DMH stands for DiMethylHydantoine. DMH is an excellent hypochlorite stabilizer.
IMCHLO markets DMH under the brand name "IMCHLO Stab-15". IMCHLO Stab-15 is a 15% DMH solution that significantly reduces the amount of bleach (bleach is often used in cooling water treatment for the control of micro-biology and the control of biofilm).
The benefits of IMCHLO Stab-15 include:
Cheaper then alternatives:
IMCHLO Stab-15/hypochlorite combination costs a fraction of other chlorine alternatives such as chlorine-dioxide or MonoChlorAmine. IMCHLO Stab-15 costs about the same as chlorine. But because of less corrosion and clogging, there are significant savings on maintenance and replacement cost. On balance, IMCHLO Stab-15 is often cheaper than chlorine bleach alone.
Increased energie-efficiency:
IMCHLO Stab-15 improves bleach efficiency and prevents microbial growth in cooling systems. Bacteria and algae can seriously obstruct the flow of cooling water through heat exchangers. This reduces energy efficiency and requires more energy for production.
Decreased corrosion:
By using IMCHLO Stab-15, the amount of chlorine can significantly be reduced resulting in less corrosive conditions.
Less exchanger blocking:
Biofilm is a layer of microorganisms surrounded by slime that adheres to a surface. Dental plaque is an example of this.
IMCHLO Stab-15 minimizes microbial growth in industrial cooling systems and thus the formation of Biofilm in cooling systems. Biofilm is one of the main reasons for exchanger tube blocking.
More environmentally friendly:
Chlorine, when overdosed, forms AOXs (pollution in the form of chlorinated hydrocarbons). These are not or hardly degradable and therefore a disaster for nature. IMCHLO Stab-15 significantly reduces the dosage of chlorine. This reduces the formation of AOXs and makes IMCHLO Stab-15 more environmentally friendly than chlorine only.
